FLORIDA’S CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2 OF 2016

Amendment 2 went on the November 2016 ballot and was approved by an overwhelming 70% of the Florida voters. The passing of Amendment 2 legalized medical marijuana use in the State of Florida. The new law became effective January 3, 2017 and vastly expanded the list of chronic conditions approved for medical marijuana use in the state of Florida. Amendment 2 requires the Florida Department of Health to set regulations for the issuance of identification cards, qualifications and standards of care givers, and rules for the registration of medical marijuana treatment centers within six months of the effective date.
